LAZEE

If you ever questioned whether or not Hip Hop is still alive, I have the answer in one world "LAZEE." You are witnessing the start of a movement coming out of Sweden. ALready nominated for 4 Grammy's, LAZEE is about to be the biggest name in the game. Rhymes and beats are the essence of Hip Hop and LAZEE effortlessly puts together Hip Hop classics! His music represents a variety of sounds and styles, which all blend perfectly to make your head nod up and down. I am truly a fan of LAZEE and I predict that international stardom is around the corner, as long as he stays on his grind and he keeps making classic music. If you don't believe me then listen for yourself, ladies and gentlemen I present LAZEE.....

I understand you are from Malmo, Sweden. What is life like in Sweden?

Sweden is very humble country with the population of almost 9 million all together. So most people in the same line of work, ethnic background or enviroment know eachother.

2. You also spent time in London but ended up going back to Sweden. Why did you leave London?

The reason why I left Sweden was because I had my family living in Malmö and that's where I grew up and I felt that going back home was the right thing to do.

3. Is there a big black population in Sweden? Is there a racial problem in Sweden or do people not really worry about race?

I wouldn't say the black population is very big but most definitely big, we're out here Ghanians, Nigerans, Somalians, Gambian etc.
I wouldn't say there is a racial problem out here but there is some occational racial issues that come up but not as back as before.

4. Your mother sent you to London to “become something,” what were her expectations for you and how does she feel about your rap career?

Her expectations of me was to become a man. See felt that at the time I didn't have a male role model in my life except for my uncles and they weren't around to often so that and off course getting a good education.
My mother is very supportive of my career and I keep her updated with everything I do and ask for advice.

5. When you were 10 years old you wrote your first rhyme. What artist were you listening to at 10 years old?

I remember my uncle and my cousins havin the snoop dogg, tupac, ice cube, dr dre, lost boys, ll cool j, wu tang notorious big CDs and that's all I wanted to hear when I came around so they kept making tapes for me and I stayed with my walkman so you know it pretty much sticks in ya head haha.

6. I understand that once you heard the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Players Anthem,” you became serious about rap. What was it about that song that made you think to yourself, I want to do this as a career?

I don't think I could really explain the way that's track made me feel except good. It made me wanna dance, jam nod to the beat and made me happy but for then I wanted to be a rapper and my dream came true.

7. Was American Hip Hop a big phenomenon is Sweden?

Yes american hip hop is most definitely a big phenomenon in sweden and still is. America has always been the leading continent for hip hop because that's where it all started.

8. Is there a big Hip Hop scene in Sweden? How would you rate in general some of the other Swedish rappers?

The hip hop scene in Sweden is big and getting bigger. There are far more rappers then before due to the fact like artists like myself let the fans know that it's possible to make it even if you're from Sweden.
I would rate the other swedish rappers as go getters because even though the scene is big it's small in the sense whereas we're all we got and it's either be the best or forget about it.

9. You started out doing mixtapes; do you think that mixtapes are better to put out than actual albums?

In the begining mixtapes are definitely better to put out so you can create a buzz for yourself then get ready for your album.

10. You had the world famous DJ Kay Slay host one of your mixtapes. How did you link up with him?

Through a mutual friend that introduced my music to him and he wanted to host the tape so that was a blessing right there.

11. You also have a mixtape album titled “Back for the 1st time,” which is a double CD. Both of your mixtapes can be downloaded for free. Is there any reason why you are giving away your music?

I figured for me to gain the buzz I knew people are not going to pay for something they haven't heard yet so all the mixtapes are for the my fans I already have or for future fans to hear all sides of me as an artist.

12. How did you come up with the name Lazee? Is there a meaning behind the name?

The name Lazee came from an older cousin I have because Out of my cousins I was always the first one to disappear when it came for cleaning and helping out in the house.

13. Your music sounds dope, who produces your beats? Do you have in house producers or will you work with any producer that is making hot tracks?

I work with any producer but I also have a in house producers like Ishi and a-de. They help me create that sound I vision and help me execute my ide.

14. When can the public expect a full length LP from Lazee? I know that some artists are not doing albums any more; they are only going to release singles because that seems to be more lucrative. Would you ever follow that line of thinking?

No, I am definitely gonna release an album so people get to know me as an artist and see all the aspects of Lazee but I am going to release singles as well .

15. As far as a record deal, are you signed to an independent label or are you on a major label? Do you have a preference as an artist?

I sign myself at the moment and working on establishing my label but I also do joined ventures with majors. I prefer my being on my own labor because then I have total control over everything that's goin on in my career but it's alot of work believe me

16. Why do you think that European rappers do not really get a major push in American markets?

I think it's because we've haven't had the opportunity to prove ourselves and let them know we got talent but everything is a matter of time I hope I'll be the one to bridge the gap.

17. Are you planning to do any tours to promote the music? If so, will you tour only in Europe or are you willing to travel outside of Europe?

This year I've toured in Japan, England, France and off course Scandinavia and I've had one or two shows in the states so I've already had some international tours and hopefully it increases for next year.

18. Are there any artists that you would like to collaborate with on a song?

Yes most definitely I'd love to work with drake, Wayne and off course Jay-Z. There are many more but those are the ones I could think off at the moment.

19. Besides Hip Hop, what other types of music do you enjoy listening to?

I listen to good music in general so everything from reggae, rnb, funky house, rock etc.

20. When you’re not working on music what kinds of things do you like to do during your free time?

I like spending time with my family because beening on the road alot and traveling all the time you rearly get to see your family and caughting up with their lifes so yeah my free time goes to my family.

21. What does the future hold for Lazee, where do you see yourself in the next few years?

Woow good question. I am going to keep on doing what I love the most and that's my music. I have a goal of being a legend of my generation like Quincy Jones or Bob Marley so if I haven't reach there yet I am going to keep on working every second in a min every min in an hour and every hour in a day! Haha.
