Mental Elastic Dynasty
I have come to realize that judging music is as hard as judging beauty. It really is in the eye or ear of the beholder! Every now and again a group will come along and the talent that is displayed is undeniable. I would like to introduce a ground breaking group out of the Midwest by the name of M.E.D. The checklist is complete with lyrics, style, beats, and flow! When I first heard M.E.D., I instantly new that I would be a long lasting fan of their music. Most artists don’t have the whole package but that does not apply with M.E.D., listening to their music it is apparent that these guys take their craft serious. With their clever rhymes and tight production, M.E.D. has put together a winning formula!
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you M.E.D……
1. M.E.D. consist of?
Anagram, Philosophy, and L-C.I.D.
2. How and when did M.E.D. start? Did you know each other before you started rapping?:
M.E.D. started in 2001, we all met in high school and were rapping on our own prior to that.
3. M.E.D. stands for Mental Elastic Dynasty, who came up with the name and what is the
meaning behind the name?
Anagram & Visionary(inactive member) came up with the name. The easiest explanation is that we are a family of emcees trying to stretch our minds & think outside the box.
4. You guys pride yourself on creating a distinct sound instead of following the current
trends. Do you ever feel like conforming to the popular sound in order to gain more
commercial exposure or is it important that M.E.D. creates a sound that is unique?
We don't really follow all of that. We more or less just make whatever we feel should be on
a certain track, and try to go tough in every lane we can.
5. Listening to your music, it is obvious that lyrically you guys are all very talented. Is
there an internal competition between each of you when you are writing your verses for
your songs?
Of course there's always a little rivalry, but we each deliver a different vibe to the music. It has a nice balance.
6. Not only are you guys able to rhyme at a high level lyrically but also you make sure that
your flow always has a distinct and catchy style. What is your creative process? Do you
hear the beat first and then write?
More often than not we'll acquire a beat first. We listen to the beat and try to vibe and develop a topic. Once that is set in place one or all of us create a hook. Finally, each of us create our own individual verses.
7. Who produces your music, do you have in house producers?
The main producers we have used in the past are Cheta & Mad Skrews, the make unique beats that work very well for us. We just recently established in house production from Six O The Producer & Thaddeus Dixon.
8. Currently you guys are on an independent label (Mobb North Records), are there any
plans to attempt to sign with a major label?
Yes, we are geared towards getting an imprint deal with Mobb North Records & a major.
9. You are working on a full length CD that is supposed to be dropping soon. How is that coming along? Are you done with the CD?
The CD is an ongoing project that's coming along nicely. Hopefully we'll meet our deadline goal.
10. How would you describe the overall sound of the new LP?
We have trouble labeling our music, we'll leave that up to the fans to decide. I can say working on this project has
been a dope experience.
11. Do you have a title for the new album that is coming out and do you know how many
tracks will be on the new album?
That info is on a TBA basis right now.
12. The single “Money,” has gained some good buzz. What is the next single that you plan
to release?
We are actively pushing our latest record "Charlie Brown" and getting a
great response. It's getting spins and we just shot a CRAZY video for it that will be
available soon.
13. You have opened for a quit of few famous acts. How would you describe a Mental
Elastic Dynasty concert for a person that has never seen you perform live?
You can expect lots of movement, personality & high energy. There's a good chance we'll have
something to pass out too.
14. In the next 3 years, where do you hope M.E.D. will be with regards to music?
We hope to be all over the U.S. and extending into overseas markets.
