Hip Hop has become the most influential and powerful music out there; contributing to greater social change as well as to destruction within minority communities. When Hip Hop first started, it was used as a tool for young black and latino boys to express themselves in a positive manner. Rhymes, beats, scratching, and break-dancing are all the original elements of Hip Hop music, which have translated into a universal language - simple lyrics with deep meaning that could break through even the most diverse communities by lending a hand towards finding common ground. Hip Hop originally started in the South Bronx but quickly grew to become a worldwide phenomenon. Once this new music trend began to spread, it was only a matter of time before it would become arguably the most popular form of music.

Crucial Point and Mathmatix first met in junior high school and it was because of Hip Hop music that they would become close friends for life. After growing up listening to Eric B & Rakim, Run DMC, Big Daddy Kane, NWA, Too Short, Spice One, EPMD, Special Ed, KRS One, Biz Markie, and various others, it was apparent that this new form of music had two converts for life.

During the late 80's and 90's, when Hip Hop was at is best, Crucial Point caught the MC bug, began creating rhymes in his head and writing them down. It was during this time that Crucial Point linked up with First Degree the DE and was given his first opportunity to perform on an album. First Degree saw talent in the new MC and put Crucial Point on his debut album South Bound. Crucial Point was so excited, yet patiently waited for the opportunity to create his own album. It would be a few years before Crucial Point would get that opportunity because he first had to finish high school and graduate from college. While attending college at the University of Georgia, Crucial Point kept pursuing his passion for Hip Hop by performing with his cousin and his buddies around town. After graduation, Crucial Point came back to California and started working on his first solo album, entitled Family Affair. Crucial Point worked on Family Affair with his cousin Ptah, who produced the entire album, while flying back and forth between Atlanta and Sacramento - determined to complete his first project. After one years time, Crucial Point's Family Affair album was finally completed. However, Crucial Point would tell you that lyrically, it was not his best effort and did not do Ptah's beats the justice they deserved due to the pressure and rush of recording during short visits to Atlanta. So with that knowledge, Crucial Point waited another two years and decided to work on a follow-up album, which would later become known as The Light. But this time, Crucial Point was better prepared and built a home-based studio in order to record without any time pressure whatsoever. Crucial Point reached out to a local producer by the name of Ace Mak and secured some of the dopest beats ever made. The Light turned out to be a great project which Crucial Point is very proud of to this day.

During the same period of time, Mathmatix was putting out mixtapes. Mathmatix is a artists in every since of the word - a master at drawing, graffiti, painting, and graphic design. Mathmatix has always been a huge fan of Hip Hop and would often freestyle and write rhymes in his notebook but never really took his talent seriously until after he put out his first mixtape. After making the first mixtape - a masterpiece - entitled Validation, Mathmatix caught the bug and decided to follow up his first album with a second mixtape, Picasso. It was during this time that Crucial Point asked Mathmatix if he would want to produce their own beats instead of using others. But Mathmatix hesitated as he felt this was still just a side hobby and did not want to undertake the pressures of more work. After Mathmatix put out his third mixtape, Infinite Gems, Crucial Point asked him to do one last album, which would be a collaborative effort between the two MC's and use original beats. Mathmatix reluctantly agreed and that was the official start of the United Nations project. Mathmatix purchased a beat machine and spent hours learning how to use it and make beats. After a few weeks of working on tracks, Mathmatix sent Crucial Point some of the music that he had produced. Stunned by the quality of music Mathmatix was sending him, it became apparent to Crucial Point that the United Nations project was going to be something bigger than he and Mathmatix had ever expected.

United Nations was formed by two MC's who have spent years working at their craft. This album is truly a special project for Mathmatix and Crucial Point. The idea of the album was to go back to the early years of Hip Hop and make an album that would pay homage to the pioneers of Hip Hop music. United Nations focused on the core elements of Hip Hop: rhymes, beats, scratching, and b-boying.

To all of those who appreciate the golden era of Hip Hop, we are 100% sure you will love this album. Enjoy!
